Unveiling the Toadstools

As you begin your hike, you'll be immersed in a landscape that seems like something out of a sci-fi movie. Towering sandstone cliffs, red rock formations, and the occasional desert flora surround you. But the true marvel of this hike is the Toadstool Hoodoos – peculiar mushroom-shaped rock formations sculpted by the patient hand of nature.

The Toadstools are the result of millions of years of erosion. Soft, sedimentary rock layers have been carved away by wind and water, leaving behind these incredible pillars of stone. They are a testament to the geologic wonders that define the American Southwest. Continue past the first two Hoodoos turning to the left walking about 200 yards you will find an area where the sand forms an almost snow like cascade against the rock ridge ahead. Don’t miss this part of the hike it is truly a spectacle when the sun is shining at a particular angle.

Walking back the opposite way passing the main hoodoos you will find additional hoodoos and more hiking trails. Take the time to explore the area it is quite intriguing.

Ancient History

Take time to admire and reflect on these incredible pieces of human history.

Sunset Magic
