High Country Alpaca Ranch, NM – May 6th

We decided to split our travel time to Sedona over two days, so we found a unique Harvest Host at the halfway point, in Fence Lake, NM. This one was an Alpaca Ranch.

They have Alpacas, Chickens, and Great Pyrenees working dogs. The Great Pyrenees were there actually protecting the Alpacas. And trust me…they are protective. We had the opportunity to visit with one of the Alpacas in a smaller feeding area. We got to pet them. A sweet family with 2 young boys were visiting in their RV, and we enjoyed watching them feed the Alpacas while John the owner was educating us all on the Alpacas and the history of his ranch.

They also have a mercantile with lots of Alpaca items such as socks, hats, yarn for knitting or crocheting, and lots of other Alpaca gifts for sale. They also have fresh farm eggs (when they have them).

The farm is a large property and is off the beaten path. It’s definitely a unique experience. John the owner is very personable and a very gracious host.

Enjoy the pictures!
